Our senior risk underwriter, Sharon Benfer, recently discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the U.S. food and beverage sector in 2022. Sharon explains that while this industry has constant demand, it also suffers from thin profit margins and a very competitive landscape.

The U.S. food and beverage industry has done well compared to other country performances and is forecasted to grow this year, albeit less than in past years. Consumers continue to seek out plant-based and healthy alternatives.

However, much of the higher food production costs now weigh heavily on consumer spending – which accounts for why your grocery bill may be higher lately.

Innovation is the name of the game for beverages – many new products account for a positive outlook in that sector.
