Getting to Know Atradius Employees

book month atradius

National Read a Book Month just ended in September, but we have a few of our own recommendations.

We polled some of our employees to see what their favorite or most recently read books were. Take a second to get to know some of our employees and hear about their experiences at Atradius.

Some of our teams’ most recently read and favorite books included “Way of the Wolf” by Jordan Belfort detailing the selling method Jordan used to sell millions of stocks over the phone. “Grand Hotel Europe” by Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer told by an inveterate traveler depicting a story of Europe being overrun by tourists and the impacts that has. Denise Callow read “When Crickets Cry” by Charles Martin, telling the story of a former heart surgeon and his relationship with a little girl who has a failing heart. She said it was a “fabulous book!” Valerio Mangano read “Notes From an Apocalypse” by Mark O’Connell. “It’s an excellent diary of the various ways different societies interpret the idea of the ‘end of the world’ and prepare for it. From the Doomsday Preppers in the US to the richest 1% buying land in New Zealand, to Elon Musk looking to relocate to Mars. Definitely an interesting read for those of us in the risk management industry!”

Some other honorable mentions from employees included “The Terminal List” series by Jack Carr, “Chip War” by Chris Miller, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie, ‘A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson, “Code Girls – The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II” by Liza Mundy, and “the Five-Star Weekend” by Elin Hilderbrand.

Many of our employees share a passion for cooking and baking in their free time. Also, listening and playing music, reading, different outdoor activities such as hiking, golfing, and coaching kids’ sports teams are popular hobbies as well.

We asked our employees about their most memorable experiences at Atradius, a lot of which referred to the Sales Conference this year in Asheville, NC. The trip provided a great time to come together from across the region as well as a long hike with beautiful views! A lot of different work trips were mentioned as most memorable experiences including the broker event from two years ago in Palm Springs, CA, and “the snow shoe hiking on Mt. Reiner in Seattle during the 2019 Sales Conference.” Also, “the times that I travelled to Amsterdam. I met our teams each time, and we worked together on some training and on planning different projects going forward. Always had a great time participating in the team building exercises each time. Mike Dodson also highlighted his “strike Deal winner trip to Spain this past year!” Our events that provide a time to do team activities and have new experiences together are definitely some highlights of the year.

Finally, we asked our employees what they think set Atradius apart from other companies. “Our ability to punch above our weight and get more done with fewer inputs.” – Joseph Loiacano

“Atradius co-workers. Everyone within Atradius is truly focused on working together and willing to go the extra mile when needed to help one another!” – Mike Dodson

“Atradius makes employees a priority.” – Omaira James

The “company culture of valuing employees.” – David Donati
