Atradius Anniversary: Celebrating 30 Years in the US

In November, we hit our 30-year anniversary of Atradius Trade Credit Insurance in the US.

On Friday December 8th, we celebrated our anniversary milestone at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. We are so grateful as a company to our customers, brokers, and dedicated employees – current and former, for their support and contributions to our success over these 30 years.

Two of our employees, Eileen Jackson and Marjorie Weinberg have been with us since the very beginning. We got the opportunity to recognize them, as well as those following closely behind. We are thankful to those who travelled to celebrate with us, and a special thanks to our longest standing brokers who were able to attend.

Atradius USA History

Our story in the United States began 30 years ago in November 1993 when Atradius Trade Credit Insurance’s predecessor, Maryland Netherlands Credit Insurance Company (MNCIC) was first authorized to write credit insurance in the US. This marked the start of Atradius as a credit insurer in the country.

Ever since 1993, Atradius USA headquarters have called the Baltimore area home. Over these three decades we’ve expanded our presence to ten other cities across the country. In 2020, we moved to our new office space coinciding with the initiation of a hybrid working model. Atradius USA operates with a team of 114 people, including underwriters, account managers, collections specialists, and support staff. Get to know our Senior Management Team here.

Our growth over the past 30 years is something we’re very proud of. While we celebrate our sustained customer retention and continuous expansion, our greatest source of pride lies in our team and the enduring mindset that defines Atradius.

Where Did We Come From?

Globally, Atradius has been supporting trade for more than 95 years, starting with our founding in the Netherlands in 1925 as NCM. We then partnered with the Dutch government to provide export credit services to Dutch companies on behalf of the Dutch State. This relationship still exists today through our affiliate Atradius Dutch State Business. Through the merger of Gerling Credit and NCM, Gerling NMC was established in 2001 and was rebranded as Atradius in 2004. Today we are one of the world’s leading credit insurance companies, a trusted provider of trade credit insurance, surety and collections services in more than 50 countries worldwide.
